NEC FC have continued their transfer business with the acquisition of experienced midfielder Daniel Shabena according the Sports Nation.
The former Express FC man has penned a two-year contract with the Bugolobi-based club following the expiry of his deal at Wankulukuku.
Shabena rejoined Express at the start of the 2024/25 season after a short stint with Mbale Heroes. Prior to that, he had already served the Red Eagles from 2018 to 2022, making him a familiar figure to Uganda Premier League followers.
His move to NEC FC is expected to inject much-needed experience into the midfield line, as the club gears up for their historic maiden appearance in the CAF Confederation Cup.
A seasoned campaigner in Uganda’s topflight, Shabena made his debut back in 2014 with the now-defunct KJT Rwenshama. He has since featured for JMC Hippos, BUL FC, and most recently Mbale Heroes, bringing a wealth of top-level exposure to his new team.
His arrival follows the recent additions of Hudson Mbalire and Warren Buule as NEC FC aim to bolster their squad ahead of a demanding 2025/26 season both domestically and on the continental stage.
The Bugolobi side concluded the previous campaign in second place on 67 points, sealing a spot in continental football and underlining their rapid rise in Ugandan football.
