In a significant step to strengthen their goalkeeping department, BUL FC have confirmed the return of experienced shot-stopper Tom Ikara on a two-year contract.
The 27-year-old re-joins the Eastern Giants after a successful spell in Ethiopia with Sidama Buna, where he played a key role in helping the club lift the prestigious Ethiopian Cup.
Ikara’s move back to BUL is a homecoming, as he previously featured for the club during the 2023/24 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season, a campaign in which his standout performances were instrumental in BUL FC finishing second on the table. His commanding displays between the posts earned him widespread recognition and underlined his status as one of the finest goalkeepers in the league.
With his wealth of experience and fearless style of play, Ikara’s return is expected to inject stability and confidence into BUL FC’s backline, as the club looks to push for silverware in the coming seasons.
Speaking after sealing his return, Ikara expressed deep joy and commitment: “I’m excited to come back home. BUL FC is like a family to me. I feel safe and at home. I’m here to improve the team’s status from where I left it to a higher momentum and make sure we win a lot of trophies. I call upon the fans to come support the team and rally behind us so that we can achieve our targets.”
Head Coach Abbey was equally delighted with the signing, praising Ikara’s qualities and highlighting the boost he brings to the squad:
“Ikara is a talented and aggressive goalkeeper and we are happy to see him back at the club. We are going to work with him to see that we achieve the club’s targets.”
Ikara’s return comes at a crucial time as BUL FC continue building a squad capable of challenging for top honors both domestically and regionally. His proven track record, leadership, and hunger for success make him a valuable addition, not just as a goalkeeper but as a leader within the dressing room.
For the BUL faithful, the reunion with one of their most trusted goalkeepers is a moment of pride and renewed optimism.
