Mukwala shines with Simba brace, Opondo guides Fredericia to Danish top flight, Omedi scores again for APR – How Ugandan players abroad fared over the weekend:



Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala was the standout performer over the weekend as he netted a brace for Simba SC in their 2-1 victory over Kinondoni MC in the Tanzanian Premier League, continuing his fine form for the Msimbazi giants.


USA- Bobosi Byaruhanga played 90 minutes as Oakland Roots beat San Antonio 2-1. Edward Kizza played 21 minutes in Indy Eleven’s 1-1 draw with Sacramento Republic. Steven Sserwadda featured for 90 minutes and provided an assist, while Ibrahim Kasule played 60 minutes as New York Red Bulls II lost 5-2 to New York City II. Shadia Nankya was on the bench for Dallas Trinity’s 3-2 defeat to DC Power.


Kenya- Kaddu George and Ojok Deogratious featured for Tusker FC in a 2-0 win over Muranga, with Ojok getting on the scoresheet. Pius Wangi and Farouk Musisi came on late for Kakamega Homeboyz in their 1-0 win against Mathare United. Denis Iguma and Boban Zirintusa were not part of the matchday squad.


South Africa- veteran goalkeeper Denis Onyango featured for 82 minutes and kept a clean sheet as Mamelodi Sundowns beat Stellenbosch 3-0.


France- Travis Mutyaba came on in the 66th minute as Bordeaux beat Granville 3-2.


Italy- Elio Capradossi played 90 minutes in Cittadella’s 3-1 win over Bari. In Finland, Viola Nambi played 64 minutes in Aland United’s 1-1 draw with PK-35 Vantaa.


Ethiopia- Allan Kayiwa made a 7-minute cameo for Ethiopian Insurance in their 2-1 loss to Bahir Dar, while Geoffrey Wasswa played full-time in Ethiopia Bunna’s 1-0 win over Welayta Dicha.


Denmark- Moses Opondo was instrumental as he scored and played the full 90 minutes in Fredericia’s 5-1 win over Hvidovre, a result that secured them promotion to the Danish Superliga. Phionah Nabbumba also featured full-time in Midtjylland’s 1-1 draw with ASA Aarhus Women, while Robert Kakeeto played 73 minutes as Middelfart beat Naestved.


Scotland- Jordan Obita featured full-time as Hibernian lost 3-1 to Celtic. Elvis Bwomono was an unused substitute as St Mirren defeated Dundee United 2-0. In Ireland, Carl Mujaguzi played 89 minutes in Kerry FC’s 1-0 win over Treaty United.


Romania- Mahadi Kayondo featured for 60 minutes in CSM Slatina’s 1-1 draw with Chindia Targoviste. In Spain, Victor Matovu played for UD Ourense in their 2-1 win over Viveiro. In Israel, Timothy Awany featured the full 90 minutes as Ashdod triumphed 4-2 over Kiryat Shmona.



Rwanda- Denis Omedi scored and played 71 minutes as APR FC beat Amagaju 3-1. Hakim Kiwanuka was on the bench for APR. Emma Okwi featured in AS Kigali’s 1-0 loss to Kiyovu. Muhammed Kyeyune also got on the scoresheet in Muhazi United’s 2-1 win over Rutsiro FC.


Asharaf Mandela played for Police FC, while Eric Ssenjobe remained on the bench in their 1-0 loss to Rayon Sport. Shafik Bakaki featured in Musanze’s 1-1 draw with Gasogi United. Musa Esenu and Michael Lutaaya played for Vision FC in their 2-1 defeat to Marines.


Tunisia- Kenneth Semakula was an unused substitute as Club Africain lost 2-0 to Etoile Sahel.


North Macedonia- Rogers Mato played 71 minutes as Vardar edged Rabotnicki 1-0. Shafik Kagimu played the entire game for Brera Strumica in their 1-1 draw with Struga.

Czech Republic, Aziz Kayondo featured full-time for Liberec in a 1-0 win over Bohemians. Isaac Muleme was an unused substitute as Zizkov fell 1-0 to Sparta Prague B.


Serbia- Pius Obuya was introduced in the 74th minute during Radnicki S Mitrovica’s 3-2 loss to Zemum.


England- Asiimwe Nathan played the full 90 minutes as Walsall defeated Chesterfield 2-0.


Egypt- Joackim Ojera and Joseph Ochaya featured in Arab Contractors’ narrow 1-0 win over Abu Qir Semad.
