Ugandans abroad once again lit up leagues across several continents, delivering strong performances and important contributions for their respective clubs.
From North Africa to Europe and the Americas, a number of players found themselves in the spotlight, with Steven Mukwala continuing his scoring run in Libya, Fauzia Najjembe making her long-awaited debut in the United States, and Ronald Ssekiganda getting on the scoresheet for APR FC in Rwanda.
Libya
Forward Steven Mukwala maintained his fine form in the Libyan Premier League, finding the back of the net as Al Nassr Benghazi secured a convincing 2-0 win over Al Alfreeki on Thursday. The goal further highlighted the striker’s growing influence in the North African league.

United States
It was a memorable outing for Fauzia Najjembe, who made her anticipated debut for Boston Legacy after being introduced at the start of the second half. Despite the team suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Gotham, the Ugandan international marked an important personal milestone with her first appearance in American football.
Elsewhere in the US, Steven Sserwadda completed the full match while Ibrahim Kasule was subbed of in the early stages of the second half as Connecticut defeated Philadelphia II 2-1.
Allan Oyirworth also impressed with a 69-minute outing in New England Revolution II’s 2-1 victory over Cincinnati, while Bobosi Byaruhanga played the entire game in Oakland Roots’ 2-1 triumph against New Mexico in the USL Championship.
Rwanda
In the Rwandan top flight, Ronald Ssekiganda delivered a standout performance, scoring as APR FC beat Musanze FC 2-0 on Saturday. Fellow Ugandan Denis Omedi also started the match while Hakim Kiwanuka came on as a substitute.
Nicholas Ssebwato remained on the bench as Mukura Victory fell 2-1 to Muhanga, while Allan Kateregga and Emmanuel Okwi weren’t in the match day squad when Rwanda Police drew 0-0 with Rayon Sport.
England
Ugandan players were also active across England’s divisions.
Nathan Assimwe played the entire match as AFC Wimbledon lost 1-0 in League One at Stevenage.
In the English Championship, Divine Mukasa featured for Leicester City, playing 61 minutes in a 3-1 loss to QPR.
Toby Sibbick completed the full match as Burton Albion overcame Northampton 2-0, while Bevis Mugabi also played the entire game though Carlisle United suffered a 2-1 defeat to Tamworth in the National League.
France
Defender Shadia Nankya earned a full debut for Le Havre, playing all 90 minutes despite the side falling 3-0 to Lyon Women FC in mid week.
Tanzania
In Tanzania, Joseph Akandwanaho came off the bench to score in stoppage time as TRA United defeated Namungo 2-0.
Allan Okello featured prominently for Young Africans, playing the full match in a goalless draw with Azam.
Khalid Aucho was an unused substitute for Singida Black Stars in their emphatic 4-1 win over Mbeya City.
Kenya
Several Ugandans were involved in Kenya’s Premier League action.
Mustapha Kizza featured for Nairobi United in their 1-0 victory over Sofapaka, with Charles Waibi on the bench while Titus Sematimba wasn’t in the match day squad.
Utility Denis Iguma started for Tusker FC before being subbed off in the closing stages of the match in their 2-0 win against Shafiq Batambuze’s Kakamega Homeboyz who featured as well while Bronson Nsubuga completed the match for Shabana FC in a narrow home loss to Kariabangi Sharks.
Samuel Ssenyonjo came on in the second half as AFC Leopards lost 4-1 to Mathare United.
Ethiopia
Ugandans continued to shine in Ethiopia as Simon Peter Oketch scored in CBE’s 4-2 victory over Hawasa. Goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa kept a clean sheet to help Welwalo Adigrat secure a 1-0 win over Dire Dawa.
Denmark
Moses Opondo featured for 29 minutes as his Fredericia lost 3-0 to Randers FC.
Phionah Nabbumba featured for 90 mins as Midtjylland edged Aarhus 1-0, while Robert Kakeeto played 71 minutes for Middelfart in a 4-1 defeat to Lyngby.
Romania
Baba Alhassan came on in the 62nd minute as Steaua Bucharest settled for a goalless draw against Metaloglobus Bucharest.
Vietnam
Kizito Geoffrey featured for 13 minutes as his Binh Doung defeated Hong Linh Ha Tinh 2-0.
Forward Joseph Mpande played 56 minutes for PVF CAND, who narrowly lost 1-0 to Ho Chi Minh City while Moses Oloya wasn’t in the match day squad as his Haiphong FC lost 1-0 at The Cong.
Scotland
Forward Uche Ikpeazu was introduced in the 68th minute as Ross County fell 1-0 to St Johnstone, while Rogers Matowas an unused substitute for Hearts in their defeat to Kilmarnock.
Jordan Obita remained sidelined with injury as Hibernian drew 0-0 with Livingston.
Zambia
Keziron Kizito featured for Kansanshi Dynamos in their 1-0 loss to Red Arrows.
South Sudan
Jude Ssemugabi played his part as Jamus SC battled to a goalless draw against Wajuma SC.
Mexico
Ugandan striker Juliet Nalukenge made a decisive impact off the bench, scoring the winning goal for Atlas in a 1-0 victory over Queretaro after coming on in the 75th minute.

CAF Champions League
Veteran goalkeeper Denis Onyango was an unused substitute as Mamelodi Sundowns cruised to a 3-0 win over Stade Malien in the first leg of their CAF Champions League quarterfinal tie.
Across different leagues and competitions, Ugandan players continued to leave their mark with goals, assists, debuts and solid performances.
With Mukwala maintaining his scoring touch, Ssekiganda delivering in Rwanda and Najjembe beginning a new chapter in the United States, the country’s football ambassadors remain influential figures on the global stage and continue to raise Uganda’s profile abroad.
