Ulinzi Stars coach sent on compulsory leave after Gor Mahia defeat

Kenyan Premier League outfit Ulinzi Stars have suspended their head coach Stephen Ocholla after the army side suffered a 3-1 FKF Premier League defeat against Gor Mahia at Ulinzi Complex Stadium on Sunday.

The defeat left the soldiers languishing in the relegation position and unless they pull up their shocks they will be relegated.

In a statement, the club confirmed Ocholla has been sent on a compulsory leave and was urged to reflect and regroup as we work towards turning the team’s results in the top-flight around.

Ocholla given short break to reflect

“Following the recent run of results, which have fallen short of the standards and expectations we have set for ourselves, the club acknowledges the disappointment surrounding our performances on the pitch,” read a statement from Ulinzi Stars management.

“Despite this difficult period, we recognise the continued dedication and commitment shown by the technical bench, particularly the Head Coach in striving to improve the team’s performances.

“After careful consideration, the club’s management has taken the decision to give the Head Coach a short break to reflect and regroup as we work towards turning our results around.”

Out of 24 matches, Ulinzi Stars have garnered 19 points. They have registered four wins, seven draws, and lost 13 times.
