Egypt u-17 national team came from behind to claim a 2-1 victory over Libya u-17 national team in the fourth round of the North African U-17 Championship (UNAF) qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations 2026.

Libya opened the scoring in the 35th minute through Mohamed Ghablan, who fired a low strike to give his side the advantage before halftime.

Egypt responded quickly after the break, as substitute Ahmed Safwat leveled the score in the 48th minute, after a brilliant turn and shot inside the box, injecting momentum into the Pharaohs’ performance.

The turnaround was completed in the 67th minute when Mohamed Gamal converted from the penalty spot, sealing a crucial win for Egypt.

The victory lifted Egypt to six points in second place, behind leaders Morocco under-17 national team, who sit top of the table with nine points.

In another fixture, Tunisia u-17 national team and Algeria u-17 national team played out a 1-1 draw, leaving both teams on four points, with Algeria ahead on goal difference.

Egypt have now officially secured a top-three finish, guaranteeing qualification for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations alongside Morocco.

Algeria remain in contention for the final qualifying spot and will face Egypt in the decisive last round, needing a win or draw to secure qualification—or even a narrow defeat, depending on goal difference against Tunisia who finished all their four games in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Libya remain bottom of the standings without a point after losing all their matches in the tournament, which features Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, and hosts Libya competing for three qualification spots to the continental finals.

Rank Team Matches Played Points
