Head coach of Nigeria senior male team, Eric Chelle has talked about Ghana’s threat ahead of their 2025 Unity Cup opener at the London GTech Stadium on Wednesday May 28.
The two rivals are part of the four nation tournament that also includes Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago. The winner of the rival clash will face either the Reggae Boys or Trinidad and Tobago in the finals on May 30.
Eric Chelle said at a pre-match press conference: “This is a great cup and Ghana is a great team. I know the coach, he is a great coach with a good staff, a lot of good players but we are a great nation too, we have a lot of good players.
“We have a lot of players in our national league, they play well and this is my vision to focus on the players. They can bring something new and we can work and we can focus on their skills and maybe these two matches can bring us something new.
“The reality and focus is the first game, I can’t tell you that I want the cup but the reality is that I have a first game against a great team and we need to make a great game to win.”
The Super Eagles will use the game to prepare for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup in September where they will host Rwanda before traveling to South Africa. Nigeria sit in 4th on 7 points, one behind Benin and Rwanda with South Africa leading the group with 13 points.
