Unity Cup: Afena-Gyan makes Black Stars return as Otto Addo confirms final squad

Head coach of Ghana senior national team, Otto Addo has released the final 23-man squad for the 2025 Unity Cup to be held in London.
The final announcement includes four home-based players, Medeama’s Kamaradini Mamudu, Razak Simpson of Nations FC, Benjamin Asare of Hearts of Oak and Kwame Poku who is Kotoko’s top striker.
Top stars like Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo who scored twice to cap a fine season was left out of the squad alongside West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus as well as Arsenal’s Thomas Partey.
There are however some returnees, Felix Afena Gyan of Juventus Next Gen, Majeed Ashimeru and Salis Abdul Samed who spent a loan stint at newly promoted English Premier League side, Sunderland.
Abdul Aziz Issah and Aaron Essel who played for Ghana at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt also earned their debut senior call ups.
The Black Stars will engage in the four Nation Tournament that includes Nigeria, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago and will be played at the Gtech Community Stadium in London.
Ghana will face Nigeria in their Unity Cup opener on Wednesday May 28 with the winner facing the victor between Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago on May 31.
