Upington City FC axe three former PSL players

Motsepe Foundation Championship side Upington City FC has wielded the axe on three former players in preparation for the 2025/26 season, Pan-Africa Football has been informed.

The Northern Cape-based club have parted ways with midfielders Tlotlo Leepile, Solly Khunyedi, and goalkeeper Kyle Peters. The trio have been let go with their respective contracts expiring on June 30.

Leepile who was in the books of Sekhukhune United between 2020 and 2023 is a surprise exit after featuring in 19 matches in the league for Upington, scoring four goals last campaign,

The utility player spent only one season with ‘Bafana Ba Gucci’ after signing from Casric Stars at the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Khunyedi and Peters who played for Stellenbosch FC and Highlands Park respectively have been shown the exit door following their limited playing minutes at the club.

Khunyedi, the left winger played 13 league games for City and failed to score or provide assists.

On the other hand, Kyle Peters is also leaving Upington after spending one season with the club. The 32-year-old faced stiff competition from Bongani Mpandle and Ignatius Mokopi in the goalkeeping department.

Upington City are set to release more players in a bid to rebuild their squad for the upcoming season and fight for promotion to the Betway Premiership.
