UPL reschedules fixtures ahead of AFCON 2025 and national elections

The Uganda Premier League Secretariat has announced adjustments to the first-round calendar, reshaping Matchdays 12 to 15 in response to upcoming national and continental commitments.

The changes are primarily influenced by the Africa Cup of Nations, where Uganda Cranes will be in action. The continental showpiece is set to run from this weekend until 18th January 2026, prompting a temporary reorganisation of domestic fixtures.

In addition, the Secretariat confirmed that no league matches will be played during the week of the Presidential and Parliamentary elections scheduled for 15th January, resulting in a brief mid-month pause to the season.

As a result, Matchday 12 will kick off the revised January programme and will be played between 6th and 8th January. Action will then resume with Matchday 13 slated for 21st to 23rd January, shortly after the AFCON and election break.

The league will maintain momentum towards the end of the month, with Matchday 14 taking place on 27th and 28th January, while Matchday 15 will follow on 30th and 31st January.

Meanwhile, the Secondary Registration Window for the 2025/26 season has also been revised. Clubs will now be able to register players from 1st February to 2nd March 2026.

Revised January First-Round Fixtures:

Matchday 12: 6 – 8 January
Matchday 13: 21 – 23 January
Matchday 14: 27 – 28 January
