The historic Bunyoro derby drew massive excitement across the region, with fans filling the brand-new stadium to witness the milestone occasion. However, the contest quickly turned into a one-sided affair as Kitara seized control early.
George Ssenkaaba set the tone just four minutes into the match, reacting quickest inside the area to turn home after Buhimba failed to clear a free kick.
The striker doubled the advantage nine minutes later when goalkeeper Jamil Kiyemba struggled with a corner and Ssenkaaba capitalised.
Buhimba attempted to respond with an early change in the 23rd minute, introducing Ronald Mutebi in goal, but Kitara’s momentum remained unstoppable. Kabon Living, on loan from URA FC, extended the lead in the 33rd minute with goal directly from a corner kick before adding his second five minutes before halftime to seal an emphatic first-half performance.
Despite rain in the second half and slight improvement from Buhimba, Kitara comfortably managed the game to secure a convincing victory.

The result lifts them to within a single point of league leaders Vipers, while Buhimba remain in 13th place with 15 points.
Elsewhere, NEC FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Police FC at the Police Arena in Kamwokya.
Muhammad “Kagawa” Ssenoga proved the difference in the 67th minute, rising highest to head home Hakim Wandera’s well-delivered free kick.
Police pushed for a response and introduced Paul Tenny, Umar Kasumba and Charles Bbale in search of an equaliser, but NEC stayed disciplined to see out the narrow win.
Wandera, whose set-piece created the decisive goal, was named man of the match as NEC climbed to seventh place with 34 points, one behind sixth-placed Police.
Meanwhile, BUL FC were frustrated at home after being held to a goalless draw by relegation-threatened Mbarara City at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, a result that dents their momentum in the race for the top positions.
