NPFL: Usman Abd’Allah positive about Remo Stars survival

Head coach of Remo Stars Usman Abd’Allah has reacted to their hard fought victory over Nasarawa United in the Nigeria Professional Football League [NPFL] on Sunday.

Remo Stars, who are stuck in the relegation zone, wove their way past the third placed Nasarawa United with a 2-1 score line in Ikene.

After a goalless first half Stanley Joseph shot Remo Stars ahead in the 62nd minute.

Nasarawa United however silenced the home supporters by responding in the 83rd minute through Suleiman Dauda.

But the former champions had the last laugh when Michael Ibe struck two minutes from time to seal a crucial victory for the Sky Blue Stars.

With their survival hopes revived, coach Usman Abd’Allah expressed satisfaction at his team’s performance.

Remo Stars won the NPFL last season

“I think I’m satisfied with the performance of the boys and you know playing at home these three points are necessary.

“[There is] a lot of pressure on the boys considering the situation we are now and I’ve told them already that these two matches [Nasarawa and Kwara United] will be the most difficult matches.

“And the six points will motivate the boys because if we have to get the other three points that will get us out of relegation.

“So if we have to get the other three points, then we will be ahead of the other contestants that are fighting out of relegation.

“So these three points, there are a lot of lessons which we have to go back to the drawing board and work it out.”

Remo Stars who won the NPFL last season under coach Daniel Ogunmodede, currently languish in 19th on the league log with 33 points, three points below survival from 30 games.
