Spanish La Liga side Valencia has reportedly abandoned its pursuit of Nigerian striker Umar Sadiq in the January transfer window after negotiations with Real Sociedad stalled.
According to reports from Estadio Deportivo, Valencia’s difficulties in meeting the Basque club’s valuation of Sadiq have prompted the club to focus on signing Uruguayan forward Martín Satriano.
The report stated that Real Sociedad remains firm in its valuation of the striker.
“Valencia are advancing negotiations to sign Uruguayan striker Martín Satriano after encountering difficulties in bringing Umar Sadiq back to Mestalla.
Real Sociedad remain firm in their valuation of the Nigerian forward, leaving Valencia struggling to reach an agreement. Valencia is already exploring alternative options, with Satriano, also targeted by Levante, Elche, and Girona, now the priority.”
Signing a forward remains Valencia’s top priority in the January transfer window. Coach Carlos Corberán believes the team requires a physically imposing number nine with attributes distinct from those of Lucas Beltrán and Hugo Duro.
The Nigerian striker, who is under contract until 2028, has played just seven matches across all competitions for Real Sociedad this season. This includes five La Liga appearances with only two starts; he has logged 159 minutes in total and has yet to score in the league.
