Veteran Zambian keeper Kola follows Chamanga in retiring

Three days after veteran striker James Chamanga announced his retirement from professional football in Zambia, decorated goalkeeper Racha Kola has followed suit.
Kola’s club, Zanaco FC, confirmed that the goalkeeper will play his final match between the sticks this Saturday, May 17, 2025, against Red Arrows FC at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
The 37-year-old will close the curtain on a 22-year playing career, having graduated from Zanaco FC’s youth setup to join the senior team in 2003. Zanaco FC Chief Executive Officer, Modest Hamalabbi, has since hailed Kola as the epitome of dedication and loyalty.
“Racha Kola represents everything Zanaco FC stands for: discipline, loyalty, excellence, and service. His journey from Young Zanaco to becoming a club legend is inspiring and historic. As he plays his final match this weekend, we salute him for his unmatched contributions to the club. Racha will forever remain part of the Zanaco story,” he said.
Boasting 12 titles, Kola holds the record for the most trophies won by a single player at Zanaco FC.
