Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen has maintained he is happy to stay at Galatasaray after he scored and assisted in a 3-1 Turkish Super League win against Alanyaspor at RAMS Park on Saturday.
Osimhen assisted the match winner with a breathtaking overhead kick assist before finishing off Alanyaspor in a thriller. Level at 1-1 close to the hour mark, the Nigerian striker attempted an audacious bicycle kick shot that turned into the perfect assist to set up Lucas Torreira for the go-ahead goal.
But the league leaders controlled the match and Torreira provided the breakthrough courtesy of Osimhen. The Super Eagles star forward finished off the three points when he received a gift from Paulo Victor before going around the Alanyaspor keeper to finish in the 83rd minute.
Speaking after the game, Osimhen told Galatasaray website: “I am very happy at Galatasaray. Every player is emotional. I celebrate most of the time, but there are times when I don’t celebrate. I was emotional in the last match, and I had a reason.
“Since I arrived, both my family and I have been having a great time with the president, the coach, the team, and everyone. They make everything very easy for us. I am happy here. I love my club, I love my coach, I love my fans. We conduct our business within a framework of mutual love and respect.”
On their next league fixture against Beşiktaş on March 7, Saturday, he said: “The Beşiktaş match is a critical one. We’re taking it one match at a time. Of course, it will be a big match. A very high-quality team awaits us, but we also have a very high-quality team.
“We’ll go there for 3 points! It won’t be easy. First the Beşiktaş match, then Liverpool, but let’s not forget that we also have a cup match against the team we just played against! There are many more matches ahead of us until the end of the season.

“İlkay is someone I respect very much, he is very valuable to me. He is a person known worldwide. He is both calm and motivating. He is someone we can always talk to.
“He is very visionary. When he brought me the captain’s armband, it felt strange. I gave it back so he could lead us. He helps us every time he comes into the game. He is someone who deserves love.”
Osimhen had a message to Gala fans, he said: “I didn’t know the fans were prepared. It was a surprise. Everything they’ve done since I arrived is very precious to me. First, I came on loan.
“Words can’t describe it. Such loving fans. We have a fanbase that creates a special bond with the players, beyond just football. I’m truly very happy. I agree with what was written on the banner.
“We are a family, and family is more important than anything. I’m at a club I love; with people I love very much. We’re together through good times and bad! We’re enjoying every moment. I’m very grateful for their support.”
Osimhen now has 17 goals and 6 assists from 25 matches in all competitions for Gala, who now have a five-point lead on rivals Fenerbahçe. Next up is a Turkish Cup clash on Tuesday where they will face Alanyaspor once again.
