There is a positive update from Turkey’s Trendyol Super League regarding the health of Nigeria national team star Victor Osmihen.
Galatasaray FC have reported that the Super Eagles forward started light training at Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay facility on Wednesday.
“The training, which started with a dynamic warm-up, continued with 8-on-2 passing exercises in two groups,” reads a translated Turkish update on the Galatasaray FC website.
“The training, under the direction of our coach Okan Buruk, ended with a four-team tournament after the ball possession exercise. Victor Osimhen started his salon [indoor] work after his treatment.”
However, the Nigerian might not make the playing squad for the away Trendyol Super League encounter against Trabzonspor FC on Saturday, April 4.
Osimhen injured his arm during a Champions League Round of 16 match against Liverpool at Anfield in England on March 18.
The towering forward was withdrawn in the 46th minute for former Manchester City’s German winger Leroy Sane as Galatasaray went on to suffer a 4-0 humiliating defeat to the Premier League opponents.
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations bronze winner eventually underwent surgery.
With the season entering its critical phase the leaders, who are four points clear of second- placed Fenerbahce FC, need all their best players.
The 27-year-old is Galatasaray FC’s second leading league scorer with 12 goals from 19 appearances this season.
Former Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi is the Trendyol Super League pacesetters’ leading scorer with 13 goals from 24 games.
Icardi surely banks on the partnership with the African star.
