Victor Osimhen was once again on the scoresheet for Turkish giants Galatasaray S.K. as they defeated Çaykur Rizespor 3-0 on Matchday 21 of the Süper Lig.
The match, played on Sunday at the Caykur Didi Stadium in Rize, saw the visitors take charge from the opening whistle. It took only 19 minutes for Barış Yılmaz to break the deadlock, giving Cimbom a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
Okan Buruk’s side did not pull any punches in the second half. What initially looked like a balanced contest changed in the 62nd minute when Yunus Akgün extended the lead.
Osimhen then sealed the victory for Galatasaray in the 72nd minute with a clinical finish from close range, putting the game well beyond the reach of the hosts.

The victory sees Galatasaray tighten their grip on first place in the Turkish Süper Lig with 52 points. Osimhen now has 8 goals in 14 games—seven shy of his international compatriot Paul Onuachu, who currently tops the goal-scoring charts with 15 goals this season.
Galatasaray wasted little time in stamping their authority on the contest. From the outset, Okan Buruk’s men controlled possession, pressed aggressively, and pushed Rizespor deep into their own half.
The breakthrough arrived in the 19th minute when Barış Alper Yılmaz opened the scoring. The winger capitalised on sustained pressure from the visitors, finding space inside the box before calmly slotting the ball past the Rizespor goalkeeper.
That goal gave Galatasaray a deserved 1-0 lead and allowed them to dictate the tempo for the remainder of the first half. Rizespor struggled to respond, managing only sporadic counter-attacks as Galatasaray’s defence remained composed and well-organised.
Despite several half-chances for the visitors, the scoreline remained unchanged heading into the break, with Galatasaray firmly in control.
The second half began in similar fashion, with Galatasaray continuing to dominate possession and territory. Rizespor attempted to increase their intensity, but Okan Buruk’s side quickly extinguished any signs of a comeback.
The decisive moment came in the 62nd minute when Yunus Akgün doubled the advantage. The midfielder finished off a well-worked move, firing home from inside the penalty area to make it 2-0.
That goal effectively shifted the momentum fully in Galatasaray’s favour, forcing Rizespor to open up in search of a response — a decision that would ultimately prove costly.
