Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo continued his impressive start with Manchester City after finding the net once again, playing a key role in his side’s crucial away victory in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
Manchester City secured a 2-0 win over Newcastle United at St James’ Park in the first leg of the 2025–26 Carabao Cup semi-final, putting themselves in a strong position ahead of the return leg.
The second leg is scheduled to take place at the Etihad Stadium in the week beginning February 4, 2026, with City holding an advantage before the decisive clash.
Antoine had already caught the eye in his official debut for City against Exeter City in the third round of the FA Cup, where he scored a goal and provided an assist.
In the 54th minute, Semenyo broke the deadlock against Newcastle after meeting a Bernardo Silva ball and applying a close-range touch in front of goal to give City the lead.
The Ghanaian was close to doubling his tally in the 63rd minute when he converted a corner, but the goal was ruled out following a VAR review for offside.
Deep into stoppage time, Rayan Cherki sealed the win for Manchester City by scoring the second in the 90+9th minute.
With this result, Manchester City have taken a big step toward reaching the Carabao Cup final, ahead of the second leg at home in front of their fans.
