Three-time winners Vipers SC have been paired against defending champions Kitara FC in a blockbuster semi-final clash of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

The semi-final draw, conducted by FUFA Vice President Hon. Nakiwala Kiyingi at Serena Hotel in Kampala, revived memories of last year’s dramatic quarter-final encounter, where Kitara knocked Vipers out of the competition.

Vipers booked their place in the last four after edging nine-time champions SC Villa, while Kitara FC sealed their spot courtesy of a late Arthur Kiggundu strike that eliminated BUL FC. In the other semi-final tie, record champions KCCA FC will host Big League side Kataka FC in the first leg.

KCCA reached this stage by overcoming another Big League outfit, Kaaro Karungi FC, and will be determined to extend their dominance in the competition. The semi-finals will be played over two legs, with the team holding the aggregate advantage progressing to the final.

First legs are scheduled for May 3rd and 4th, with return legs to follow on May 17th and 18th. Kitara FC head into the semi-finals as the reigning champions, having lifted the 2024 Stanbic Uganda Cup title after defeating NEC FC 1-0 at Muteesa II Stadium.

The grand final will be staged at the newly inaugurated Kadiba Stadium, promising an exciting climax to the tournament.
