Seven-time Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have formally petitioned the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), demanding immediate action over their unplayed league fixture against Kitara FC.
In a strongly worded letter addressed to FUFA, the Venoms expressed frustration at what they describe as prolonged silence from the Competitions Committee regarding the match that was originally scheduled for October 4, 2025.The encounter at Mandela National Stadium
to take place after Vipers opted not to honour the fixture, citing their protest against the proposed new league format that had been introduced by FUFA before later being suspended.
According to Vipers, the failure by the federation to clearly pronounce itself on the status of the postponed match has now escalated from a procedural delay into a serious threat to the integrity of the league.
“Vipers SC is now writing to formally protest the continued failure of the Competitions Committee to pronounce itself on the status of our postponed fixture against Kitara FC,” the club stated. “Despite multiple inquiries, the Federation’s silence has moved from a procedural delay to a direct threat to the sporting integrity of the league.”
The Kitende-based side further argue that the fixture was postponed during the enforcement of Regulations 14.4–14.12, which governed the now-abandoned league format. They insist that FUFA’s subsequent suspension of those regulations effectively nullifies the legal framework under which the match was postponed.
“By suspending those very regulations, the Federation has admitted that the legal basis under which the league was operating at that time is no longer applicable,” the letter reads, adding that no decision can be taken based on a legal regime that no longer exists.
Vipers warn that it is both illogical and legally inconsistent for FUFA to revert to the old league format while leaving their fixture unresolved.
The club also criticised what they termed as unprofessional conduct by league management, claiming that the lack of response to their repeated correspondence has caused sporting prejudice.
As a result, Vipers SC are demanding the immediate rescheduling of the Kitara FC fixture and written assurances that the match will not be treated as a forfeiture or walkover.
The Venoms have given FUFA until January 4, 2026 to resolve the matter.
