WAFCON 2024: “Go for gold” – Kudus charges Ghana ahead of Morocco clash

Ghana forward Mohammed Kudus has urged the senior female team to strive for gold at the 2024 Women Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Queens endured a grueling 120 minutes goalless draw against Algeria in the quarter finals – before running away with a 4-2 penalty shootout victory.

Ghana will next face hosts Morocco on Tuesday July 22 in the semi finals and Kudus, who recently joined Tottenham Hotspur from West Ham United, fired up the Queens to lift their first ever WAFCON trophy.

“I’m just here to wish you well in your upcoming games, I’m really proud of your energy, your work and the fight to defend the country Ghana,” he said in a shared video.

“I’m really looking forward to your next game and I wish you bring the gold home, I wish you all the best and we are behind you.”

Ghana booked their place in the knockout stage by finishing second in Group C, bouncing back strongly from an opening loss to South Africa. A battling 1–1 draw with Mali and 4-1 triumph over Tanzania ensured qualification.
