Ghana’s senior female team will take another big step towards qualifying for the 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations when they battle Egypt in a two-legged qualifier.

The Black Queens, who claimed bronze at the last WAFCON in Morocco, are motivated ahead of their first leg encounter against Egypt on Thursday, October 23.

Nottingham Forest forward, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah insists the team is poised to produce a fine game against Egypt in Suez.

“So, it’s been two months since we had the WAFCON, now we’re back together in preparation for the Egypt game. It’s been good to see everyone’s face again, get the group back together and have some good sessions,” she said.

“I think what the fans can expect from us is good energy, determination and to see the togetherness that we brought together from the AFCON.”

The bronze-medalist at the 2024 WAFCON completed preparations for the upcoming encounter on Wednesday under the tutelage of Swedish tactician, Kim Lars Bjorkegren.

Boye-Hlorkah, 30, who switched allegiance to Ghana level, signed a contract to join Nottingham Forest in the summer following her superlative performance for the Black Queens.

In the same vein, Black Queens winger Princess Marfo is also brimming with confidence ahead of Ghana’s clash against Egypt. Ahead of Thursday’s match, the FC Nordsjaelland winger pledged the Black Queens will do their best to qualify for WAFCON 2026.

“Training has been really serious, it’s been very detailed, and we can’t wait to start the game because we know how important this game is for us and I believe with the preparation that we would go far,” she told GFA media.

“Obviously, the fans would play a big impact in our performances so we pray that they have hope in us to pray for us and yeah, we will do our best to deliver,” she added.

The 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations is set between March 17 and April 10 in Morocco with twelve nations to battle for honours.
