WAFCON: Ghana’s third place finish means a lot to my career” – Nancy Amoh

Ghana women’s national team midfielder Nancy Amoh has described the nation’s bronze medal winning feat at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) as something special for her career.

Amoh converted the Black Queens last penalty kick that helped them clinch bronze over South Africa at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Black Queens fought from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Banyana Banyana in full with the West African nation going on to win 4-2 via the penalty shootouts.

Amoh, who plies her trade with Ghana based Ampem Darkoah Ladies, was left on cloud nine after the team repeated the feat chalked against the same side in 2016.

“I am very happy, I am very excited [and] if I say I’m not excited then I am telling lies,” Nancy Amoh told Pan Africa Football.

“I’m very excited because me being a young player playing for the Black Queens, qualifying from the group stage, semifinals and winning the third position, I am very happy. She added.

“It means a lot, it means a lot to my career because not all footballers who got the chance to play so me getting this opportunity means a lot to me.

Ghana defeated South Africa by 1-0 at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Cameroon in the 2016 edition and a repeat of that achievement in Morocco this year was something the entire team holds in high esteem.
