Ghana made the second leg of their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifying second round matchup a mere formality with 4-0 win over Egypt at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday.
The Black Queens had put a 3-0 win past the Cleopatras in the first leg at the Suez Stadium last week, completing a 7-0 aggregate win over the two legs to qualify for the 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Morocco.
The Black Queens were in charge of the game right from the blast of the whistle, firing from all cylinders with Egypt struggling to contain the pressure.
Doris Boaduwaa capitalized on a poor goalkeeping from FC Masar shot stopper, Habiba Emad to open the scoring for the Black Queens in the 52nd minute.
The 2024 bronze medalists did not rest after the opener and a beautiful team play in Egypt’s third saw Doris Boaduwaa score her second goal in the 54th minute from Princess Marfo’s perfect low cross.
Moments later, Comfort Yeboah lobbed in Ghana’s third goal in the 56th minute to put the game beyond the Cleopatras.
Substitute, Stella Nyamekye dispossessed her opponent in the dying embers of the game before setting up a well-positioned Doris Boaduwaa to slot home her third and Ghana’s fourth of the afternoon. With five minutes of added time elapsing, Ghana chalked another qualification for the Women Africa Cup of Nations.
The tournament is set between March 17 and 3rd April with 12 nations from one confederation set to battle for honours.
