WAFCON: “Ghana win over Tanzania most important” – Kyerewaa Bonsu

Ghana’s senior female team winger Afua Kyerewaa Bonsu has described the 4-1 win over Tanzania on Monday as the most important match in the group games.

The Black Queens nailed Tanzania in the final group C match to finish in second on four points and book a quarter final spot at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The 25-year-old said: “It’s big and it was the most important game we had since the start of the tournament and we all knew we could do it and we proved it.

“It was late but we proved it, it was really good.”

The Black Queens made a poor start to the campaign – losing the opener by 2-0 to South Africa before settling for a 1-1 draw against fellow West Africans Mali in the second game.

Ghana, who are yet to win the Women AFCON, will now face North African side Algeria in the quarter finals on Saturday, July 19 in Berkane.
