Zambia women’s national team captain Rachael Kundananji has stated the Copper Queens’ main objective is to finish off the job against Namibia and qualify for the Morocco 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Sunday.
The Copper Queens will head into the final qualifying decider having won the first leg 4-2 from the first leg played at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.
Speaking ahead of the return leg set for Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, the Bay FC star, who was among the goals in the first leg, said the team was ready for the Brave Gladiators of Namibia.
“The team is ready, we have prepared, coach Nora has helped us to work on our mistakes. The last 90 minutes are more important than anything, this is what will determine our fate,” said Kundananji.
“We want to be at the WAFCON, that is our aim and we are not backing down, we are ready for that, we are just waiting for tomorrow (Sunday).”
Kundananji urged Zambia fans to turn up in numbers and cheer for the Copper Queens at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
“Playing before a packed stadium is a great motivation for us. It helps the team work harder and push more,” she added.
The winner over the two-legged qualifier will qualify to the 2026 WAFCON which will be played in Morocco.
