Nigeria U-20 national team captain, Kolocho Daniel Bameyi says they are ready to go all out against continental rivals Ghana in the opener of the WAFU U-20 ZONE B tournament.
Nigeria will open their tournament against Ghana on Thursday, July 10 at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram. Speaking ahead of the crucial Group A encounter, Bameyi expressed his belief in the character and drive of the team.
“Really we are prepared and what I can tell you [is] as players we know how important this match is to us and we are playing against our rivals.
“So we are prepared that I can tell you as players. [We] always want to be the best, that is what I believe in and we have one of the best technical officials so it will be a good game and all eyes will be on that game.
“So we as players are not taking it lightly at all [and] first of all we must understand that no country is a small country when it comes to football and when any other country is playing against Nigeria, we know what that means, they want to give even more [than] they are expected of.”
Nigeria are paired in Group A alongside Benin and Ghana, meaning every game is crucial in qualifying for the next phase of the competition.
