WAFU U-20: Nigeria coach Aliyu Zubairu confident ahead of Niger clash

Nigeria under-20 team coach Aliyu Zubairu says his charges know the magnitude of Sunday’ semifinal encounter against Niger at the WAFU Zone-B U-20 tournament.

The Flying Eagles have a date against Niger on Sunday for a spot in the finals and Zubairu shared important thoughts ahead of the game.

“The semifinal is just like every other match. The boys have to understand that they have to keep their focus,” Zubairu said.

“Because the competition is coming to an end and if you really want to become a champion, every match that comes your way you need to approach it with a positive mindset.”

“So the boys fully understand that. We are making it a duty to work tirelessly about goal scoring,” he added.

Nigeria’s journey to the semi finals started with a 1-1 draw against Ghana before whitewashing Bénin by 4-1 in the second game.

Nigeria topped Group A, while Niger secured second spot in Group B after a hard-fought campaign.
