WAFU Zone-B U-20: Ivory Coast remain perfect, Togo defeat Burkina Faso

Ivory Coast joined Nigeria as the first teams to secure qualification for the semifinal stage of the 2025 WAFU Zone-B U-20 Boys Cup on Monday following a 1-0 victory over Niger in Group B.

Zakaria Tindano’s first half header was all Les Éléphanteaux needed to secure the 1-0 victory at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, Ghana. Ivory Coast, with two victories in two games, are now through to the semifinals with a game to spare ahead of their final Group B game against Togo.

Togo kept themselves in firm contention in the other game on Monday, overcoming Burkina Faso in their own 1-0 victory. An incisive counter-attack game the Togolese the only goal of the match in the 25th minute with Marius Glo providing the final touch with a calm finish.

Togo will now need to put in a good performance against group leaders Ivory Coast and achieve a superior result to Niger, who finish against Burkina Faso. Niger have the head-to-head advantage over Togo if the teams earn the same result in the final match day of the group on Thursday.

Group A finishes up on Wednesday when hosts Ghana face Benin (15:00 local time). Ghana only need to avoid defeat to join rivals Nigeria as the teams to advance to the semifinals out of the group.
