Walid Regragui: “If Morocco doesn’t win the 2025 AFCON, I’ll leave”

Morocco national team coach Walid Regragui confirmed that his contract with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation runs until the 2026 World Cup. But in an interview with the Spanish program "El Chiringuito," the Moroccan coach was clear: if he fails at the next Africa Cup of Nations, he will leave.

"I have a contract until the 2026 World Cup but if we don't win the 2025 AFCON, that contract will end and I will leave," Regragui stated bluntly.

Asked whether there was a clause in his contract related to a continental title, he clarified: "No, it's not stipulated that way but I know this job. If you don't win, you know what you have to do. It's logical."

Despite this assumed pressure, Regragui asserts that he remains calm and focused on the coming months: "These kinds of things don't scare me. What matters to me today is the squad's preparation. We have six or seven months to prepare well before the Africa Cup of Nations."

This statement reflects a clear ambition, but also an assumption of responsibility on the part of the coach, who is already outlining his future at the helm of the Atlas Lions.
