Wanderers not worried about scoring in derby – Mpinganjira

Mighty Wanderers FC coach Bob Mpinganjira has addressed questions about their scoring woes going into Sunday’s encounter against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.

The giants of Malawi football will meet in the second installment of the Blantyre Derby at Kamuzu Stadium in the commercial capital Blantyre.

While the TNM Super League leaders, Bullets are in a devastating form, winning five straight league games and scoring freely, the same cannot be said of the Nomads.

Ahead of the Super League meeting with the bitter rivals, Mpinganjira said he has tried his best to take the pressure off his players.

“We are addressing the issue of us not being able to score enough games. This is not something that worries me. I take comfort in the fact that we are creating enough scoring opportunities,” he said.

Mpinganjira gives a hint on Wanderers approach to Blantyre derby

The former Malawian international addressed the question of their approach to the Super League’s second round match. Wanderers won the first leg.

“Our first round victory is now in the past. This will be a different game. All the players are looking sharp. They are ready for the game,” he said.

The coach added that he has enough cover for injured players such as Chimwemwe Nkhoma, Mphatso Kamanga and Gaddie Chirwa who are set to miss the derby.

Wanderers hope to preserve their unbeaten league run, knowing that a draw would not be good enough.

Only a win would see Wanderers, who trail Bullets by four points with a game in hand, eventually climbing back on top of the 16-member league table.
