Dunfermline Athletic manager Neil Lennon has delivered positive news on Victor Wanyama, who signed for the Scottish Championship club as a free agent.

The former Tottenham and CF Montreal midfielder was handed his debut as a second-half substitute against Ayr United, entering the match in the 64th minute, but was sent off in the 85th minute as his side went on to suffer a 3-0 defeat.

The sending off meant that Wanyama was not available for Dunfermline's next matches against Livingston and Hamilton and speaking after the latter’s game on Saturday at East End Park, Lennon gave a word on the fitness of the former Harambee Stars captain.

“No, I wouldn’t have thought so. So, you know, Victor’s missed tonight but he’s been training really good. He’s starting to look really good now,” Lennon said as quoted by Glasgow World.

“Obviously he’s rusty but his feet are getting better and his sharpness is getting better. So, yeah, he’ll be a welcome addition to the squad because it’s threadbare at the moment.”

In Wanyama’s absence, Dunfermline hauled a maximum six points beating - Livingston 1-0 and Hamilton 1-0. The six points hauled the team to the ninth position with 30 points from 32 matches.
