Kenya international Victor Wanyama received a red card 20 minutes into his Dunfermline Athletic F.C. debut at Somerset Park on Saturday.
The former Harambee Stars captain came on as a second-half substitute against Ayr United, entering the match in the 64th minute, but was sent off in the 85th minute as his side went on to suffer a 3-0 defeat.
The home side led 1-0 at the half-time break courtesy of Connor McLennan’s strike in the 43rd minute. Jamie Murphy added the second in the 68th minute before Ethan Walker scored in the stoppages to seal off the emphatic win.
The red card means Wanyama will miss the next two matches against Livingston and Hamilton. The defeat left Wanyama’s side in the relegation zone with 27 points from 30 matches.
