WCQ 2026: “Ghana is ready to beat Chad and Mali” – Stephen Appiah

Former Ghana captain, Stephen Appiah has expressed confidence in the team ahead of their two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali this month.

The Black Stars will travel to N’Djamena on Tuesday to face Chad in match day 7 on Thursday, September 4 before hosting Mali four days later at the Accra Sports Stadium for match day 8.

Ahead of the game, Appiah, who doubles as the Vice Chairman of the Black Stars management committee said: “I have watched the team train at the Accra Sports Stadium and I think the guys are ready to deliver in these two games” he told the media.

The four time African champions opened camp on Monday, with twelve players taking part in coach Otto Addo’s training session at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Ghana currently sit top of Group I on 15 points after six matches, followed by Comoros (12 points), Madagascar (10), Mali (9), Central Africa Republic (5), with Chad yet to secure a point. The Black Stars will wrap up their qualifiers against Central African Republic and Comoros in October.
