South Africa international Oswin Appollis has shared some ecstatic words after joining Orlando Pirates ahead of next season’s domestic and continental campaign.
The 23-year-old Cape Town native joined the Sea Robbers from Polokwane City, going ahead to display glimpses of his qualities in their friendlies against English third-tier side Bolton Wanderers and Cypriot champions Pafos at the Marbella Football Centre in Spain, where they are holding preseason.
The 11-time capped Bafana Bafana attacker said: “Yes, it is a dream come true to play for Pirates. Playing for this great club is an honour. I always watched [Pirates] on TV...now wearing this jersey means a lot to me,'' Appollis told sportscaster Thomas Mlambo in Spain on Monday.
Appollis collected an impressive statistics for Polokwane City last season – making 66 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals with six assists as they finished in 7th with 34 points from 28 matches.
Pirates announced the signing of right-footed utility winger, Kamogelo Sebelebele from TS Galaxy on Monday, a day after selling Mohau Nkota to Saudi side Al-Ettifaq.
Pirates' next friendly in Marbella is against Las Palmas who were relegated from the Spanish La Liga last season, on Thursday (7pm SA time).
The Buccaneers finished second last season on the Betway Premiership with 61 points and will look to make a big impact in next season’s CAF Champions League.
