Werder Bremen best team for Victor Boniface to shine in Bundesliga – Fritz

Werder Bremen Sporting Director Clemens Fritz has backed Nigeria forward Victor Boniface to have a great season with the German Bundesliga outfit.

The Bayer Leverkusen loanee marked his first appearance with an assist, after coming off the bench in Bremen’s 4-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach. He will hope to make his full debut when Bremen host SC Freiburg at Weserstadion on Saturday.

“It’s impossible to say at this point. We’re focusing on the here and now. The season has just begun. We want to integrate Victor as best we can so that we can get the best performance out of him,” he told Transfermarkt as quoted by Complete Sports.

Werder needs to provide Boniface with best environment

“To do that, we need to provide him with the best environment – and that’s what we’re working on. Everything else is a matter for the future.

“We had a very good conversation with him (Boniface). It was important to get a feel for each other. It’s no secret that Victor was also in talks with another club, where we might be talking about a different category,” he added.

“As Werder Bremen, you naturally want to know from him: Can you imagine playing here with us at the Weserstadion? Can you identify with our club, our path, and our goals? And so a mutual feeling developed. We were on the same page quickly.”

In last season’s Bundesliga, Boniface featured in 23 games for Bayer Leverkusen, scored 14 goals and provided eight assists. Prior to moving to Bayer Leverkusen in July 2023, Boniface made 37 league appearances in total at Union Saint-Gilloise, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists.
