Zamalek first team doctor Dr. Mohamed Osama revealed the reason behind the exclusion of midfielder Mohamed Shehata from the starting lineup for the match against Pyramids, held in the sixth round of the title phase in the Nile Egyptian League.

Shehata had been initially named in the starting lineup for Tuesday's match before being removed and replaced by the Moroccan defender Sallah Moussaddaq.

The head of the medical staff stated that the player was included in today’s starting lineup after being confirmed fit and undergoing scans and thorough medical examinations over the past few days.

Dr. Mohamed Osama added: “During the warm-up, the player felt pain in the hamstring, and it was quickly decided to substitute him as a precaution, to preserve his fitness and prepare him for the upcoming league matches and the Pyramids game in the Egypt Cup final.”

Zamalek lost 1-0 to Pyramids in the sixth round of the title phase in the Nile Egyptian League at Cairo International Stadium.

Zamalek now sit third in the league table with 41 points, while Pyramids occupy second place with 50 points, three behind Al Ahly.
