Wilfred Ndidi resumes training with Beşiktaş

Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has resumed training with Turkish outfit Beşiktaş despite earlier reports indicating he could miss the rest of the season owing to an injury.

His club confirmed two weeks ago the Super Eagle suffered an injury during their tense Süper Lig Matchday 28 encounter against Istanbul rivals Fenerbahçe at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.

During the game, Ndidi’s Beşiktaş lost the Istanbul derby 1-0. In a statement, the club confirmed Ndidi’s injury report had revealed strain and bleeding in his hamstring muscle.

“Our football player Wilfred Ndidi, who was unable to continue playing in the 85th minute of our A Team’s Trendyol Super League match against Fenerbahçe due to pain in his hamstring, underwent an MRI at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital, which revealed a strain and bleeding in his hamstring muscle (biceps femoris),” reads a statement on the club’s official website.

“Wilfred Ndidi’s treatment has been started by our medical team.”

Howover, in the latest photos released by the club, Ndidi is among the players training for their Ziraat Türkiye Cup quarterfinal clash against Corendon Alanyaspor.

Ndidi joined Beşiktaş on a permanent three-year deal with an option for another year in 2025, and was later appointed as the vice-captain of the team.

Since joining from Leicester City last summer, the Nath Boys product has made 26 appearances across all competitions, including two in the Türkiye Cup, and has scored twice in the Süper Lig.
