Ivory Coast winger Wilfried Zaha scored a late goal to help Charlotte FC secure a vital 1-0 Major League Soccer (MLS) victory against FC Cincinnati at TQL Stadium, in Ohio, United States on Sunday.

After a 0-0 first half, Cincinnati suffered a blow in the 70th minute when Brian Anunga was sent off after a stamp to Djibril Diani’s thigh. The visiting side took advantage of the numerical numbers to score what turned out to be the winner 15 minutes later.

Zaha, who was filling in for Pep Biel at the top of the midfield three, secured his ninth-straight match with a goal contribution when he fired a strike off the volley that found its way past Cincinnati goalkeeper Roman Celentano

The win, which was the fourth on the road for Zaha’s side this season, started a crucial nine-match stretch run to the Playoffs with an important three points. Zaha and Charlotte will next face Real Salt Lake at Bank of America Stadium on August 16.

Zaha has now scored seven goals from 23 matches and provided seven assists.
