After three-and-a-half seasons in Major League Soccer (MLS), striker William Agada returned to European club football on Monday with a free transfer to LaLiga 2 club Real Zaragoza.

The 26-year-old Nigerian is now in northeast Spain after signing a contract that runs until the end of the ongoing 2025-26 season. He joins a club that is in the midst of a fierce relegation battle in the Spanish second tier, where they currently sit second from bottom. Three points separate Los Blanquillos from safety as the table stands just past the midway point of the season.
The club average less than a goal per match in league play, leaving them tied for the worst attack in LaLiga 2. A pacey and opportunistic poacher, he arrives on a short-term deal which gives him plenty of flexibility if he fails to establish a regular role with his latest club.
Agada arrived in MLS under similar circumstances when he joined struggling Sporting Kansas City for the final stretch of the 2022 season. He went on a remarkable run of scoring with 8 goals and 2 assists in 12 matches to firmly establish himself in the league.

He never quite reached the heights of his first half-season in the American top flight but maintained his reputation as a forward who could become hot at any moment. Agada contributed 27 goals in 103 appearances across all competitions during his time in MLS, finishing his spell in the league at Utah club Real Salt Lake after being traded from Kansas City during the 2025 campaign. He was released at the conclusion of the season after Real Salt Lake was eliminated from the MLS Cup Playoffs in late October.
Prior to his time in the United States, the native of Bauchi, Nigeria spent around five years in Israeli football. He produced 37 goals and 5 assists in 126 appearances split between the top two divisions of Israel with Hapoel Jerusalem and Hapoel Haifa. He began his career in Nigeria’s second tier Nigeria National League (NNL) with Jos-based club Mighty Jets.
Zaragoza have only won one match in their last seven league fixtures, and will next be in action on Saturday when they travel to face midtable side Albacete.
