Wolayta Dicha finally receive Ethiopian Cup trophy in Addis Ababa

The Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) has officially handed the 2025 Ethiopian Cup title to Wolayta Dicha. The Sodo-based club clinched their second-ever Ethiopian Cup title after the EFF sanctioned Sidama Coffee for fielding ineligible players.

Wolayta Dicha were declared winners a month ago, but they were not handed the title immediately, leaving fans longing for the moment. With Court of Arbitration for Sport dropping the appeal lodged by Sidama Coffee over the Ethiopian Cup game, EFF president Esayas Jira officially presented the trophy to Wolayta Dicha captain Melkamu Bogale.

Club officials were present when the title was handed over earlier today in Addis Ababa at the EFF headquarters. It is not yet known if the Bees of Tona will arrange a parade in Sodo to celebrate with their fans.

Wolayta Dicha have been preparing for the new season with the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round tie against Libyan side Al Ittihad Tripoli in mind. They have parted ways with Yared Gemechu, who is now the new trainer of Sidama Coffee, and appointed Gebrekristos Birara as their new head coach. Birara managed army side Mechal for the past two seasons.
