Wolves manager Vitor Pereira has praised Nigeria forward Tolu Arokodare after his performance in the 4-3 Carabao Cup defeat against Chelsea at Molineux on Wednesday.
Despite making wholesale changes from the side which took on Burnley in the Black Country four days previously, Pereira preserved Arokodare a starting role. And the Nigeria star did not disappoint as he was among the goals.
Arokodare’s goal came in the 48th minute but Wolves were not able to see off the game as Chelsea won the seven goal thriller. Speaking after the game, Pereira reserved praise for Arokodare, who was pulled out in the second half.
“It’s normal because now he has more training with us. His fitness is better now than before, he understands what we need from him, and he is more connected with his teammates and he is ready to help us,” Pereira told Wolves website.
Arokodare joined Wolves on a four-year contract with the option of a further one year in a deal in September from KRC Genk. He scored his first Wolves goal in a 2-0 home victory over Everton in the third round of the EFL Cup.
