A highly anticipated friendly match between the women's teams of hosts Zambia and neighbours Malawi was suspended on Saturday due to bad weather at Reiz Arena, formerly Woodlands Stadium, in Lusaka on Saturday afternoon.

The game was called off due to heavy rain in the 26th minute with the Copper Queens leading 1-0. Avell Chitundu scored after pouncing on a loose ball from Barbra Banda’s free-kick which the Malawian defense failed to deal with.

The exhibition match will now be played at the same venue tomorrow at 10:00 am Southern Africa time, according to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).

“Entry will be free, with priority given to fans who kept their tickets from Saturday,” FAZ’s statement reads.

The two teams will play their second friendly on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. The neighbours are using the warm up matches to prepare for the final qualifying round of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Malawi will face the winner between Zimbabwe and Angola.
