World Cup 2026: Ghana’s keepers’ trainer Fatau Dauda focused on Chad and Mali clashes

Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup chances were boosted months ago following a double victory over Chad and Madagascar in matches day five and six of the qualifiers.

The Black Stars pummeled Chad by 5-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium before travelling to Morocco to secure a 3-0 win against Madagascar.

The two wins sent the four time African champions top of Group I on 15 points from six qualifying matches with the next qualifying games resuming in September.

Goalkeepers’ trainer of the senior national team, Fatau Dauda says the team is very aware of the task ahead as they look forward to the next qualifiers.

“To qualify for the tournament, you need to win the game. To win the games you have to score so we have two games ahead of us, and we are telling Ghanaians to pray for us, we are going to do the job and the players are going to play so we need to win these matches which is not going to be easy,” he told Citi Sports.

“They are doing calculations and we know we also have to win. What we have played is gone, now we have two games ahead of us and we have to do everything possible to win those games,” he added.

The Black Stars will travel to face Chad at the Stade Olympique Iddris Deby on September 4 before hosting West African rivals Mali in Accra four days later.

The Black Stars have lost only one of six games played in the qualifiers and sit top of Group I with 15 points.
