Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers was dealt a blow following the injury to Athletic Bilbao forward, Inaki Wlliams ahead of the final two games.
Inaki pulled out of Athletic Club’s La Liga fixture against Real Mallorca last Saturday, forcing head coach Otto Addo to comb around for a replacement for the two games against Central African and Comoros.
The spotlight fell on Coventry City striker Brandon Thomas-Asante has earned a late call-up to fill the void created by Inaki Williams who will miss both fixtures.
The 26-year-old forward has already joined his teammates in Casablanca where the four time African champions have opened camp ahead of the penultimate fixture against Central Africa Republic at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes on Wednesday October 8.
Thomas-Asante has been in fine form this season, scoring five goals and providing three assists in nine Championship appearances.
They will then return home to face Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12.
Ghana sit atop Group I with 19 points and are seeking to secure qualification for their fifth FIFA World Cup appearance.
