World Cup: “Ghana must make every group game count” – Kwesi Appiah

Head coach of Sudan men’s team James Kwesi Appiah has expressed hope in Ghana’s chances of making an impact at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Kwesi Appiah, who served Ghana for ten years in a combined assistant and head coach’s role believes the Black Stars must focus on winning every game at the global football festival that will be co-hosted by Canada, USA and Mexico.

“All the teams in the group are beatable, and a team in the World Cup can’t be underrated. We pray that our players don’t sustain any injuries before or during the stages. Nothing is impossible, and we can go far,” Kwesi Appiah told Akoma FM in an interview.

Ghana finished in quarterfinals at 2010 World Cup

Appiah, who is currently in charge of Sudan’s national team, urged the four time African champions to focus on making every group game against all opponents count.

“Ghana needs to prepare very well physically and psychologically. Irrespective of whatever team we meet the ambition should be (we have to win),” he said.

Ghana, who finished in the quarterfinals at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa are paired against CONCACAF side Panama, European outfits England and Croatia for their fifth appearance.
