Ghana have been dealt a potentially critical blow to their 2026 FIFA World Cup chances following an injury setback to Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Mohammed Kudus.

The 25-year-old, however, been sidelined since January after being pulled off with a thigh injury in the 1-1 draw against Sunderland on January 4.
Kudus was billed to return to full time action in April, but news emerging from London indicates that the nimble footed forward has suffered another setback related to his hamstring.
Earlier reports indicated that, the former Nordsjaelland forward may require surgery to correct the injury which could potentially rule him out of the season and the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the summer.
Tottenham Hotspur have now officially announced the injury suffered by the former Ajax attacker.
“We can confirm that Mohammed Kudus has suffered a setback in his return from injury.
“The Ghana international forward suffered a significant quad injury during our Premier League fixture against Sunderland in January.
“He had returned to team training during the past week, however will now require further specialist review and, potentially, surgery.
“We will provide any relevant further updates in due course.
“We’re all with you, Mo.”

The Black Stars, who qualified for their fifth World Cup, will kick off their Group L campaign against Panama on June 18 before playing European sides England and Croatia.
Kudus, whose European journey started at Danish club Nordsjaelland, has scored three goals and registered five assists in nineteen appearances this season.
Spurs currently sit 17th in the Premier League and just one point above West Ham, who are in the relegation zone.
