Medeama SC midfielder Prince Owusu says his desire is to be part of Ghana’s final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 21-year-old earned his maiden invitation for Ghana’s final two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Central African Republic and Comoros, going on to make a cameo appearance against Central African Republic in the 5-0 win at the Stade d’Honneur de Mekness in Morocco.
Owusu, who is a mainstay in Medeama’s setup in the Ghana Premier League has set a target of working hard in order to keep his spot in coach Otto Addo’s squad for the global football festival to be co-hosted by Canada, USA and Mexico.
“My target is to be part of the squad that will be going for the World Cup so that we can win the trophy for Ghana,” Prince Owusu told MEDi tv.
“If you get carried away by your first call up that could be your end so I will not be carried away by the debut call up but I will rather work harder.
The Black Stars qualified for their fifth FIFA World Cup after posting a 5-0 win over Central African Republic and a 1-0 victory over Comoros in the final game to top Group I with 25 points from ten matches. Ghana first qualified for the mundial in 2006 before making consecutive appearances in 2010, 2014 and the 2022 editions.
