Morocco U-17 national team coach Nabil Baha admitted his young side lost to a good Brazil team in the quarterfinals of the 2025 U-17 FIFA World Cup in Qatar on Friday.
A goal in the final moments of second half stoppage time condemned Morocco to a 1-2 defeat against Brazil. Dell’s composed finish in the fourth minute of stoppage time confirmed victory for Brazil in what was the last kick of the match.

Les Lionceaux challenged the Brazilians from beginning to end but Dell, one of the top scorers in the tournament, was too much for the North Africans. The Bahia forward opened the scoring in the 16th minute before Morocco restored parity just before halftime with Ziyad Baha’s penalty kick.
But just when it seemed that the North Africans were about to hold on to take the match to a penalty shootout, it was Dell who reacted first to finish after the ball was headed behind the Moroccan defense.
Speaking after the game, Baha told FIFA.com: “It’s football… and 16- and 17-year-old kids who are learning important lessons so they don’t make the same mistakes in the future.
“It’s been a genuine pleasure to work with them every day during this World Cup, through smiles and tears… It’s a good Brazil team, but Morocco no longer has any inferiority complex: we know we can look eye-to-eye with any opponent, whether it’s with our seniors, our U-20s or our U-17s.”
He concluded: “We’re reaping the hard work performed at all levels, from our regional academies to the National center. It’s important to work day in, day out with those kids to help them reach all their potential.”
Earlier on Friday, a late Thomas Campaniello goal proved the difference as Italy scraped by Burkina Faso to set up a meeting with Austria in the semifinals.
