2026 World Cup playoff: Nigeria clash with Gabon confirmed

Nigeria men’s senior national team, Super Eagles have confirmed that will takeon Gabon in the semi-final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier African playoffs.

Nigeria who kept their dreams alive to be one of Africa’s representative at the 2026 World Cup, qualified thanks to a 4-0 win over Benin Republic on Tuesday.

Victor Osimhen hat-trick, before Frank Onyeka volleyed in the decisive fourth, meant Nigeria beat Burkina Faso to the fourth and last playoff spot.

The Super Eagles confirmed their opponent in tweet from their official’ handle on Wednesday. “Our opponents for the African World Cup playoff semi-final are Gabon. Win here, reach the final and then the inter-confederation playoffs await.

“Save the date.”

Nigeria will play Gabon on November 13 in Morocco and if they win that game, Eric Chelle’s men will then take on the winner between Cameroon and Congo DR, for the continental ticket.
